CONFIDENTIAL.

Sir,

Government House

7th December, 1901.

With reference to your Confidential Circular of the 9th October enclosing a copy of an Admiralty letter regarding the use of the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Apparatus for Government purposes, I have the honour to inform you that on the 27th August last the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company Limited of 18, Finch Street, London, petitioned in the customary form for the grant of letters patent in respect of their wireless telegraphy apparatus. As the papers were found by the legal adviser to this Government to be valid and in order, the usual procedure was followed, which resulted in the grant of letters patent by me in Executive Council on the 17th September last.

2. I may add that letters patent are never granted in this Colony unless it can be proved that they have previously been granted and registered in England. No exception was made in this case, as I find that the English letters patent were issued on the 26th April, 1900.

I have duly noted the terms of the second paragraph of your despatch under acknowledgement for future guidance,

Right Honourable Joseph Chamberlain, M.P.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

your most obedient,

humble servant,

Henry A. Blake

Governor.
