Resignation, such as that of Inspector Duncan Lee on 25 June with full pension papers, I should not, I think, be applied in a case like Mr. Steen's of compulsory resignation.

I gather that on the grounds of ill health, you supported this view when you wrote your marginal minute on 27/4/14.

You wrote to pay the pension now awarded as from 14 March last, adjusting what has been paid in advance of alimentary allowance, and to inform Mr. Keen above, explaining the same.

With reference to your Despatch No.346 of the 11th ultimo, I have the honour to inform you that the pension papers of ex-Police Sergeant F. Keen have been amended in accordance with the instructions contained in paragraphs 2 and 3 of that Despatch, and with the advice of my Executive Council.

2. I attach the usual copies of the revised pension papers.

3. The amount to be refunded by Mr. Keen on account of the difference between his half salary and pension for a portion of the period granted as leave of absence, amounts to £45 • 8 • 7.
