Magistracy,

Hongkong, 18th October, 1901.

440

Sir,

I have the honour to inform you that Messrs. Moore and Mackie, the two Junior Interpreters appointed under Government Notification No. 209 of 4th day of May, 1889, have received an increase of $25.00 per month from 1st day of September, 1901.

I was appointed a Student Interpreter in the Moklo Dialect on the 4th day of April, 1891, and have received no increase since the 1st of October, 1894. I passed in the Punti Dialect last November and have been daily interpreting in that Dialect since Mr. Kemp's appointment as Acting Police Magistrate.

Under the above circumstances I have the honour to ask if you will be good enough to recommend me for a similar increase.

[P. A. Hazeland, Esq.,

Police Magistrate.
