Government House,
Hongkong, 28th October, 1901.

I have the honour to enclose a letter from the Police Magistrate forwarding an application from Mr. Nolan, Cantonese and Macao Interpreter, requesting an increase of salary of $25.00 and to inform you that subject to your approval, I have sanctioned the same to take effect from the 23rd instant.
2. A similar increase with effect from the 1st September was granted to Messrs. Moore and Mackie, Interpreters, who have been employed for over a year in the Land Court in the New Territory and whose work has been very satisfactory.
3. Mr. Nolan is a good Interpreter and I consider he fully deserves an increase of pay.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient
Humble servant,
