(1) Appointment of Director of Public Works; vacant owing to Mr Ormsby's retirement.
(2) 5th Executive Engineer: Mr A. H. Hollingsworth has been appointed by the Secretary of State in C.O.D.288 of 1901.
(3) 5th Assistant Engineer: Appointment at $2400 to $3000 by $300 triennially approved in C.O.D.265 of 1901.
(4) 8th Assistant Engineer: Appointment at $2400 to $3000 by $300 triennially has been recommended by His Excellency in despatch No 222 of 1901, but has not so far received the approval of the Secretary of State.
(5) Mr D. Wood's title of Office Assistant & Accountant was on the recommendation of the Director of Public Works changed to that of Superintendent of Accounts, Correspondence & Stores, which more closely represents the duties of the post.
(6) 3rd Accounting Clerk at $1200: The appointment was submitted to the Secretary of State in His Excellency's despatch No 146 of the 12th April. In C.O.D.174 of the 16th May, the Secretary of State asked for further particulars, which were supplied in His Excellency's despatch No 238 of the 28th June. This was merely acknowledged in C.O.D.262 of the 28th June: no objection was raised; it is presumed the creation of the new post has been approved.
(7) 5th Clerk at $380 to $480 by $60 triennially. Wan Chang has resigned and Yeung Kun was appointed in his stead.
(8) 6th Clerk at $360: This temporary clerk has been engaged as the Acting Director
