The West End letter of the 28th relating to the date of Dr. Manson's report on the physical condition of the Colony has not been received, but I have addressed a letter to the London Hospital authorities in accordance with your suggestion.
I am to inform you fully that you will be required to report to this Office what will, in your opinion, be necessary equipment for the "Good Lubricating." In this connection, your estimates should not be too extravagant, and should not include anything beyond what is absolutely necessary.
An estimate, not exceeding £750, should be made out and, after receiving the approval of Dr. Manson, submitted to this Office; if approved, the articles will be bought by the Crown Agents for the Colonies.
The enclosed correspondence, which is original and should be returned to this Office, will no doubt be of service to you in preparing your report and estimates.
