A boat is still required (at Taipo) for the conveyance of provisions, but it must in its nature be permanently here. The use of the new road in place of water carriage from Shatin promises to be very expensive, and so unworkable. A Hakka boat if left here when not required by the Inspector of Schools would however certainly be of use in reaching points in and about Tolo Harbour and Channel, but for no other purpose."
