2: The approval of correspondence clerk was advised in my telegram of the 10th October, as noted in the Acknowledgment to your despatch, and I telegraphed to you on the 25th November informing that I approved the engagement of the four other clerks asked for.

I regret the misunderstanding which arose in regard to the number of clerks required, and I trust that these additional appointments together with those of the Examining Superintendents whom the Postmaster General has been asked to recommend will be sufficient to bring Department up to a state of thorough efficiency.
4. I take this opportunity of informing you that I have observed the Postmaster General fixed the salary of the Examining Superintendentships at £200 a year, rising by annual increments of £15 to £245 a year.
