Enclosure No. 3 to Governor's Despatch No. 407 of the 14th October, 1901

121

From the Colonial Secretary to Punchard, Lowther and Company,

Colonial Secretary's Office, Hongkong, 15th November, 1900.

Gentlemen,

In reply to your letter of the 8th instant, I am directed to inform you that it is the intention of the Government to put up the Quarry Park for auction in 3 portions, one of them including the quarries from which you desire to obtain stone for the Admiralty works upon which you are engaged. You will thus have an opportunity of making a bid for the quarries in question, and if you secure the lease you will have exclusive rights of using them for the period of tenure. The lease of each portion of the Quarry Park will be for one year, and at the auction an upset price will be named for each.

I have etc.,

(sd.) R Stewart Lockhart,

Colonial Secretary.

Messrs. Punchard, Lowther and Company.
