Sir,

2.

With reference to your Despatch No.272 of the 22nd of last August, I have the honour to inform you that every precaution is taken to keep the amount of stores suspense account to the smallest limit necessary for efficiency, and that care is taken to prevent a large credit balance.

If the Military Contribution can be refunded, all requirements will be fulfilled, but in view of paragraph 3 of your Despatch I have directed that a longer trial should be given to the new system of accounting for stores, and I will report again this time next year.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient

Humble servant,

Henry Blake

3

Governor, &c.

The Right Honourable

JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN, M.P.,
