Peak asked me whether he was drunk.

I could not say if he was drunk as it was so dark, but
he seemed to be excited.

He was as close to me as he is now.

He did not smell of drink.

He was with me, talking to me, about 5 minutes and then
he left me and went down below to the second ward.

That is all.

There was nothing in your conversation to make me
think that you were drunk,

I do not think that it would be possible for a Warder going on duty to take any drink with him.

It is not possible to take any liquor in your trouser pockets.

They do not feel your trouser pockets on parade.

I was officer on gate duty the night that you were suspended from duty.

I have been very uncomfortable since I was in Gaol.

My wife and family are at home.

The passage for my wife and family were to be paid.

Bitterly disappointed with nature of employment and quarters.

Craig said I could get $20 only for quarters and not $30 like a Sanitary Inspector.

Craig has been down on me since I gave evidence at Salaries Commission.

I did not take any drink in with me and there was no duplicate key.

Principal Warder on duty had key to dispensary. Quarters very noisy and I have suffered greatly from insomnia.
