Drawing Instruments for Public Works Department. They were either in this damaged state when packed or so carelessly packed as to lead to this present condition.
C. O.
36046 RECO & 450 RECET4 OCTO
Totally unfit for use. The Director of Public Works reported:
15/116. Casting Machine for Victoria Gaol. The Superintendent of Victoria Gaol had reported. This machine was so badly damaged that the following parts were broken in transit, and I have had to get them made locally:-
1 Cylinder screw (bent & thread destroyed)
1 screw (bent & thread destroyed)
1 fastener from treadle bar
1 Cross head bracket.
"The Machine parts were packed into boxes and only protected by a loose packing of wood shavings."
16/316. Cast Iron Gutters & Rain Water Pipes for Public Works Department. The inspecting Officers reported as follows: "The damage appears to be due to imperfect packing, as the case arrived intact."
15/200. Steel Joists from Derman Long Mfg for Public Works Department. The charge for inspection, £11. 15.7, appears to be needless. The Director of Public Works characterized the charge as equivalent to paying a fee to a Physician for a bottle of Enos Fruit Salt.
15/667. Carboys for Public Works Department. The inspecting Officers reported that the damage was due to insufficient packing.
By Post. Year 1900, 1901, 1902, 1903 for General Cost. Through not having sent their goods by Registered Post, they got lost and duplicate purchase had to be made involving at the same time expense in telegraphing.
Cost of the Auger £2.8.0.
