I have the honour to acknowledge the

receipt of your despatch No.249 of the 9th

July last on the subject of the land re-

quired by the Hong Kong Whampoa Dock Company

and to transmit to you for your information

a copy of a letter which was addressed to

the Admiralty on receipt of that despatch.

A letter was at the same time addressed to

the War Office suggesting the desirability

of withdrawing the conditions imposed by

the Military authorities and numbered 6 and 7

to which the Company object.

The Dock Company's letter of 11th June is the first enclosure in 29150.
