Sir,

I have the honour to apply for the appointment of First Magistrate Hongkong in the event of the post becoming vacant.

2.

I enclose an extract from the Colonial Office List giving my record of Service up to September 1887, and also a table of my service in Hongkong since that date.

3.

I was called to the Bar Lincoln's Inn in Easter Term 1880, and have passed the final standard in three dialects of Chinese Tie-Chiu, Cantonese and Hokkien.
