In reply to your Despatch No. 235 of the 17th ultimo, I have the honour to inform you that on the 31st of last month Dr. Bell reported that the German Lunatic, Karl Ahrens, had suddenly become sane. I enclose for your information a copy of Dr. Bell's letter.
2. Under these circumstances the German Consul has promised Ahrens a passage by a boat leaving on the 28th instant, and it will, therefore, be unnecessary to make any further application to the German Government in this matter.
