I am directed to transmit for your consideration the enclosed copy of a memorandum of the Deputy Superintendent of Police dealing with the pension list of Indian Police Constables who have served under this Government, and to request you to be good enough to verify by close inquiry the Indian Pension List of this Colony.

His Excellency will be glad if you will at the same time obtain impressions of the finger-marks of all pensioners of this Colony who are found to be alive and to direct that in future the receipt for each payment of pension be marked with an impression of the pensioner's finger.
3.
In future the Captain Superintendent of Police will cause all Indian Pensioners to leave an impression of their finger on the Pension Paper in addition to the photographs already attached.
