Goverment House,

Hongkong, 13th August,

16 SEP 1901.

To

Sir,

In continuation of my Despatch No. 202 of the 3rd of last June, as it has been pointed out to me that there may be some doubt whether it was intended to recommend that the salaries of such Officers as are not included in the new classification scheme, but are placed in the appendix to that scheme (pages 4 and 5), should be increased, I have the honour to inform you that it was my intention to recommend the increase of such salaries to the amount suggested in that appendix, with effect from the 1st of last January.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient

Humble servant,

Henry Astake

Governor,

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN, M.P.,

&c. &c. &c.
