No.242.

THE HONOURABLE

Sir,

0.0. 29166

12 AUG 01

OF 726

Police Office.

128th. "June, 1901.

Referring to the case of piracy reported in the Police Morning Report of this date paragraph 10, I have the honour to enquire what is the correct Western boundary of the Colony.

The attached map, which is the latest one the Director of Public Works has, is on the face of it wrong for if it were right Tai O Bay and the waters around the West end of Lantao would be not British but in Chinese jurisdiction.

For purposes of Police work this Department has regarded the S.. point of the promontory which forms the Northern and Western shore of Deep Bay as limit of our Western boundary and as a prolongation of a straight line drawn towards Lantao passes inside of the islands marked Lung Ko, Pak Chau and Saw Chau, those islands have not been policed since it was discovered that the Longitude 113° 52′ E. did not cut the South West extremity of Deep Bay.

THE ACTING COLONIAL SECRETARY.

I have &c.,
