successful essays are printed their names may add lustre to our paper. Noms-de-plume may be used. On the day of the receipt of the Essays an acknowledgment for them will be handed over. These receipts shall be produced when the prizes are drawn,
VI.
All Essays in English which are selected, will be translated by us and the original versions and translations will be published on the same day in our paper.
VII.
All Essays whether in English or Chinese are to be clearly and distinctly marked off in paragraphs and the sentences punctuated in order to prevent confusion and mistakes.
VIII.
Three days after the selection and printing of the Essays in our paper the successful candidates shall either bring the receipts personally or send them by someone to our Office to receive the prizes. If the successful Essays should be from Canton, Macao and other ports, the receipts may be sent to some trustworthy person, or a native Post Office may collect the money.
