affects Admiralty Interests only, and are recommended by

the Commander-in-Chief, I am prepared to submit the terms,

as revised, to the Secretary of State for War, for his

decision.

4. Before doing so, however, I shall

be glad if you will kindly inform me whether the Hongkong

and Whampoa Dock Company accept the terms as now proposed,

and, if so, to cause the attached copy of them to be signed

by the Company as accepted, subject to the approval of

the Secretary of State for War, and returned to me.

5. Pending further instructions from

the home authorities, it must be clearly understood that

the continued occupation of the War Department land by the

Company is subject to the original terms approved.
