Wong Ping states-

I was formerly cook for the engine room staff (Chinese) of the S.S. Tibuli running from here to a Russian port,

I also did some petty trading myself. That was two years ago, I have been back to my country village which is

at Sha Tau in Deep Bay. I came to Hong Kong only a few

days ago. I came to look for employment as cook on

board ship.

I was in Hong Kong in the 9th moon. I was here from the 1st to the 8th of the moon. On

13-30 October 1900.

1300

the latter date I went home and came out again on the 14th and I stayed here to the 1st day of the 10th moon. 22 November 1900

When in Hong Kong I stop at the Fuk Hing Cheung seamen's

boarding house in West Point. Wong Iu Ting is not my nephew. He belongs to my village and is my clansman. He calls me "A Suk" (uncle). I was acquainted with Yeung Kui Wan. I met him in Japan formerly. I am acquainted with Kong Kung Hi. He is a countryman of mine. He belongs to Tai Po Chung which is about 10 miles from Sha Tau. I don't know where Kong Kung Hi is now. I heard he had

gone abroad.

1-21 November 1900.

In the 9th moon in the 3rd decade - I am not sure of the

date - I met Kong Kung Hi in the street in Hong Kong.

He said "where are you going to?" I answered "To see Yeung Kui Wan". Kong Kung Hi then said "I want to go and see him too, so we can go along together". Then we went together to Yeung Kui Wan's house at the back of the Alice Memorial Hospital. We sat there for a time and talked about political matters. Then Kong Kung Hi said to Yeung Kui Wan that Ng Lo Sam had given him Kong Kung Hi some money for expenses and had asked him to do Yeung Kui Wan to death. Kung Hi added that he was going to use the money to go abroad. Kong Kung Hi also asked Yeung Kui Wan to go away as the political outlook was not good. Yeung Kui Wan said there was no danger in Hong Kong, everybody's place in Hong Kong was safe.
