Kong Kung Hi states-
I am a native of Tai Po Chung near Sha Teng in the Sai Lo. I am 33 years of age. I used to run a pass boat from Wang Chau to Canton. I have not run for several years back. Of late years, I have been a travelling trader. I had no part in Chung Sui Yeung's rebellion.
I was at Sam Chau Tin and subsequently at Sha Wan fight. I also took part in the fight at Fat Sze Ao and afterwards at Pak Mong Fa and Sam To Chuk. After that, we dispersed and I came down to Hong Kong. I landed here a few days after the disastrous typhoon. It was on the 20th of the 9th moon. I met Kong Ngau Ying and Kong I Tsai. They are clansmen of mine. They two asked me to go and see Ng Lo Sam. I went with the other two to Ng Lo Sam's house. I can point out where it is. That was on the 22nd day of the 9th moon. He (Ng Lo Sam) asked me to surrender and join the Government ranks and said that if I did not do it, he would get a paper issued and have me arrested. I promised him to do so. Kong Ngau Ying and Kong I Tsai had already gone over to the Government side. They were present at the interview. He then promised to give me $20 for expenses. After that, I went away. On leaving, he asked me to come alone to him the same evening.
In the evening, I went to see him. There was a Chinese officer there (a Wai Yuen - I do not know him). I was introduced as Kong Kung Hi. Ng said the officer was a Wai Yuen from Canton. He said that he had come to arrest rebels and asked me to help him to arrest them as I knew the men. I said to Ng Lo Sam, "The rebels are not here." Ng Lo Sam said, "Do you know Yeung Kui Wan, he is a friend of yours, is he not?"
I said, "Yes, I know him, he is my friend." He then said, "I want you to kill him." I said, "He is here if you want to catch him." He said, "He cannot be arrested, I will give you $200 and a button if you kill him."
