may be permitted to leave the

Colony for Canton and its

adjacent districts be revived

and to come again into force;

and that if necessary for this

purpose, Your Excellency may

be pleased to communicate the

substance of this Petition by

wire to the Right Honourable

Colonies and to obtain his

authority and Sanction.

Your Petitioners further pray

that if the aforesaid regulations

be definitely held to be in

direct contravention of the

spirit and letter of Chapter I

consider the advisability of

withdrawing Hong Kong from the

Convention.
