With reference to my letter No.2210 of
the 3rd December 1900 and to the cases in which the extra-
dition has been applied for by the Acting Viceroy His
Excellency will be glad if an answer be given at your early
convenience to the hope expressed by His Excellency that
an Officer of this Government should be permitted to attend
at the trial.

2. A reply is urgently required before
the 19th instant, as steps are being taken to obtain the
release of one of the men at present under detention and it
is possible the Supreme Court may order him to be discharged
