of Canton in Kwong Tung with an Official Commission.

Mak Hi U and Sung Shiu-tung were chief men. They were

under my control. The name and surname of A Lung is not

really known (note by Translator.- This is strange, for

he is called A Lung) who called the adherents and was

a weaver at the Little North (Gate)? He was over 30.

His Mug (?) is made of Pewter. On the surface is written

three characters namely 'Society for the raising of

China,' It was made in Hong Keng. (I) heard Shiu Tung say

it was already made. Ku Wan told me to superintend cash-

ing money remittances. The money was to be remitted

through the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank to the Hongkong

and Shanghai Bank in Shameen, all to be made out in my

name. One thousand taels was taken each time for use and

handed over to Shiu Tang for use. There are accounts

which may be investigated.

As regards Hong Yau-Wai, I formerly

originally wished to go to his place to follow his

teaching, but at that time (my) years were few and (my)

education was not sufficiently advanced, so (I) did not

80.
