In reply to your letter of the 26th ultimo, relative to the proposed extradition of Yang Chu Yun, I am directed by the Governor to inform you that before the matter can be dealt with in Hongkong it is necessary that evidence should be produced of such a nature as to warrant His Excellency in issuing an order for extradition.
2. I am further directed to enquire whether you can obtain for the information of His Excellency a copy of the confession of Shih Chion Yu referred to in the despatch of the 23rd November from the Viceroy.
