receipt of your letter No.840 of the 26th. instant.
As Consul von Loeper has communicated in his letter of the 28th. March, 1898, the question of the re- patriation of the man Ahrens has been reported to the Foreign Office at Berlin, an answer from which I am expecting by every
mail.:
As the new German Consul Dr. Rieloff will arrive here Tuesday next I would suggest that you communicate with him further upon the subject if you are of opinion that it ought to be taken again in consideration independently from the instructions for which this Consulate is waiting.
I have etc.,
(Sa.) Heinze,
Imperial Jerman Vice-Consul.
The Acting Colonial Secretary,
Hongkong.
