In continuation of my Despatch No.

130 of the 29th. ultimo, I have the honour to inform you

of the following changes which have taken place in the

subordinate Staff of the Colonial, Secretary's Office for

the most part during the months of December, January,

February and March.

2.

At the beginning of last December

the following Officers constituted the subordinate Staff

of that Department, viz.- P. H. do Rozario, J. M. Gutier-

rez, J. A dos Remedios, F. F. dos Remedios, E. J. do

Rozario, and F. X. H. do Rozario. All these Officers

were on the permanent Staff.

3.

In your Despatch No. 124 of the

9th. May, 1900, you had approved of the appointment of a

7th. clerk on the permanent establishment with a salary

at the rate of $480 a year, rising by biennial increments

of $60 to $600 a year. Great difficulty was, however,

experienced in filling this post. On the 12th. March,

1900, Mr. G. M. Gutierrez, the clerk whose appointment

had been approved in paragraph 3 of your Despatch under

reference, resigned and was replaced on the 22nd. of the
