angle formed by pier and projecting for ramp.

The Chairman then mentioned that he had inter-

viewed Mr Ordish, Engineer of the Naval Yard Extension

and ascertained from him that he was prepared to re-

commend that a sum of £1,000 or about $10,000 be paid

by the Admiralty to the Victoria Recreation Club for

reinstating their buildings on the new site. This

was arrived at by taking the cubic contents of the

old Club Building, amounting to 105,840 cubic feet

which he valued at .08¢ per cubic foot, as the cost

of erecting such a building at the present time. This

gave $8,467 to which must be added something for foundations or, sey, in all, $10,000.

Mr Ordish had further agreed that, as the

cost of materials and labour was at present excessive

an allowance of .10 might be made for the cost of

the building, which would bring up the sum total to

$12,000.

After some discussion it was unanimously

agreed that a sum of $15,000 should be accepted as a

full discharge of the Club's claims, provided the

Admiralty would undertake to form the foundations of

the building when constructing the pier. It was

pointed out that the position of the buildings would

be much more exposed than on the old site and conse-

quently more substantial buildings would be required.

The Chairman was asked to see Mr Ordish and endeavour
