1. The following is a statement of the
progress made in the arrangements for providing a site
for the Victoria Recreation Club, which has been dis-
placed by the Naval Yard. Extension Works.

Arrangements were made with the Naval
Architects for reclaiming a small additional area
extending a distance of 250 feet along their western
boundary and projecting from the same for & width
of 50 feet.

Of this area it was intended that a portion
measuring 80 feet in length, should form a public
landing place in lieu of Murray Pier, which was
abolished by the new proposal, and that the remain-
der should be handed over as a site for new Club
premises.

Subsequent to this arrangement, it was
deemed desirable that two other Clubs, namely the Boat
Club and the Royal Yacht Club should also be accomo-
dated on this site, and the Naval authorities were
approached with a view to extending the additional area
a further distance of 80 feet along their western
boundary. They however pointed out that, if the exten-
sion were made in a straight line, probably difficulties
would arise in bringing vessels alongside their wharf
due to the boats of the various Clubs lying at the
end of the reclamation.

To overcome this objection, it has been
proposed to construct the extension in the form shown
