in the absence of Mr. Lockhart through illness. I enclose
a copy of the Minutes of the Meeting.

On the following morning Mr. Chatham
interviewed Mr. Ordish, the representative of the
Admiralty Local Officers, and I enclose a copy of his
report of the interview, from which you will observe
that Mr. Ordish is prepared to recommend a total sum of
$15,000 as a fair and reasonable estimate of the cost of
reinstating the Victoria Recreation Club. This I had the
honour to report to you in my telegram of the 1st. instant.
I further enclose a copy of the let-
ter which I addressed to the Commodore on receiving Mr.
Chatham's report, and will communicate to you his reply
as soon as possible.
