I have the honour at the suggestion of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to enquire whether there is at present any senior Officer in the Service of the Straits Settlements or the Federated Malay States, who would be willing to accept the appointment of Inspector of Schools in this Colony. at a salary of$4,800 a year, rising by triennial increments of
$300 to $5,400.
2. Such Officer must belong to the Cadet
Service: he must be proficient in the Chinese written language and the Cantonese Dialect and should also be of such senority es will warrent his being appointed Head of the Educational
Department.
