Referring to C.S.0.359/1901, I have
the honour to forward a copy of my letter of the 12th.
instant to Messrs. Denison and Ram and their reply of
the 13th. idem.
2.
It will be seen that they are prepared
to take up end carry through the work, providing all
necessary plans, specifications and estimates on payment
to them of a commission of 5% on the cost of all work
done in the Colony, or 64% if the quantities of all work
are taken out and furnished to Government.
3.
In an important work of this nature,
and in order that the Government may as soon as possible
be in possession of a reliable estimate of the total
cost of the scheme, I think the Engineers should not
only provide the plans and specifications but also an
accurate bill of quantities. I will, therefore, assume
that the payment to Messrs. Denison and Ram for their
professional services, if their offer is accepted, will
