the Governor to now enable them to obviate the grave
difficulties now pressing upon them in the management
of the College, to place the whole work on a more substan-
tial and permanent basis, and to realize long-cherished
hopes for the future of the Institution, by recommending
to the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the
Colonies the endowment of the College, with an annual
grant of $2,500 from the public funds to be expended in
hon raria to the Lecturers as described in an earlier
part of this letter.
