I cannot recollect with certainty whether the question

of Noble being sent home by the Goverment was raised,

but I fancy it was and that I told the Commodore that

it was usual for the Government to send men home when

invalided but not when dismissed for misconduct, but I

certainly did not commit myself to the statement that the

Goverment "did not propose to send Noble home.
