I have the honour to forward herewith
for the favourable consideration of His Excellency the
Governor an application for a building grant in aid of
defraying the cost of school-rooms to be erected by the
Church Missionary Society at Yaumati on Kowloon Inland
Lot No.1085. Accompanying the application are a memoran-
dum from the Architects Messrs. Palmer and Turner
stating the estimated cost of the two school-rooms to be
$3,000 and a plan of the building. The Church Missionary
Society has had for some years two Schools at Yamati for
Chinese one for boys and one for girls, and they pro-
pose to move them into this building when it is complet-
ed. The application appears to me to be one which may
be granted without hesitation as the money is to be spent
on providing satisfactory and permanent quarters for
schools already in existence, and the expenditure does
not entail an increased expenditure on the Goverment
in future years,
I do not however recommend that the
ne Honourable
