Sir,

I have the honour to transmit for

your consideration the enclosed copies of 3 letters fram

pel: 1,2,43. 8710415/10/1900. 29 of 17/1/1901.

the Inspector of Schools, of which the first is dated

"I ll wall - 15th, of last October, and concerns an application by

the Church Missionary Society for a Building Grant for a.

School at Yaumati, while the other two letters are dated

the 17th. ultimo, and concern respectively the applica-

tion of the Italian Convent for a Grant towards furnish-

ing new class-rooms recently acquired by them, and the

application of the Basel Mission for a Grant towards the

cost of rebuilding a Grant-in-Aid School for Chinese

at Shamshuipo.

As all three applications have a

claim on the Government, I endorse the recommendation

of the Inspector of Schools that a Grant of not more

than 2,000 should be made to the School at Yawati, of

not more than $120 to the Italian Convent, and of not
