I John Chua wong of Victoria, in the
Colony of Hong Kong Clerk in the Land Office in answer to the amended Charge' served upon me on the 15th. November
1900, state as follows:-

I deny the charge set forth in the
paragraph 1 of the said amended charge and say that the work referred to in the said paragraph was done by Joseph
Mowlar Wong at the instance and on the recommendation of
Albert Ahwee a partner of Lau Tak Kun referred to in the said paragraph' and that I had nothing to do with the deeds or translations or the registration of the same in the
Land Office.

It is untrue as stated in the said
paragraph that I received $50 from the said Lau Tak Kun
for the services of myself and my son. Sometime
said deed was registered the said Lau Tak Kun handed to me
$30 in which amount I understood he was indebted to the
aaid Joseph Mowlam Wong for making such translations as
aforesaid and for payments out of pocket and I handed the
same to the said Joseph Mowlam Wong accordingly.

I deny the charge set forth in the
paragraph 2 of the said amended charge and say that until this charge was made I had no knowledge of or control over
the registration of the Memorial No. 87571 of an' assignment of land at Ngau Tau Kok and that I had no knowledge of the
translation of such assignert or that such Memorial was sworn to by my son Joseph Morlan Wong. I received no money in respect thereof from any one nor did any of the' documents
in connection therewith ever came into my hands.

I deny the charge set forth in the
paragraph 3 of the said amended' charge and say that until this charge was made I had no knowledge of the registration of Memoriala Nos. 26509 and 26590 of assignments of land at Foh Pang and that I had no knowledge of the translations of such assignments or that such memorials were sworn to by
my son Joseph Mowlam Wong. I received no money in respect
thereof
