We have the honour to submit for your consider-
ation the following reasons in support of the application
we now make that the Authorities in HongKong should be
instructed to grant our firm of Butterfield & Swire the
same term viz: 999 years

for the extension of Quarry
Bay Marine Lot No. 2 as is named in the Crown Lease

commencing 26th May, 1898, (but granted in 1893), under

which they hold the original ground.
By this Crown Lease the entire frontage rights
of Marina Lot No. 2 are reserved to the lessAAS for A
term of 999 years.
No one without the consent of the lessees could
reclaim in front of this Marine Lot.
The Colony obtains premium for ground which it
could not have sold except with our Firm's sanction.
When our firm applied, in March, 1900, to the
Government of HongKong for a site (marked A on attached
