Sir:-
24011
REGP 25 JUL 09
I am directed by the Comptroller and Auditor General
to transmit to you, for the information of the Secretary of State, a copy of a letter received from the Local Auditor of Hong Kong on the subject of certain fees received by officials of the Hong Kong Government from the Straits Settlements, and explaining the manner in which such fees
are accounted for.
2. The Comptroller and Auditor General is not aware
of any objection to the course now followed or to the receipt of such fees by officials of the Hong Kong Govern- ment, but is of opinion that the approximate amount of the fees to be received annually should be stated in a foot note in the Annual Estimates of Hong Kong, and that the amounts actually received should be similarly shown in the
Annual Detailed Statement of Expenditure.
3.
Should the Secretary of State concur in this
opinion, Mr Nicolle will be informed accordingly.
I have the honour to be,
sir,
Your obedient servant
R. Binary Wever.
