The differences between the amounts estimated and
realised under Heads and Sub-Heads are shown in the
accompanying Detailed Statement of Revenue.

Expenditure.
The total Expenditure of $2,841,805.20 exceeded
the total Estimate by $208,929*20, and was greater than the
Expenditure of 1897 by $200,395 49.
The excesses on the various Heads amounting in gross,
as shown in the Account, to $247,739.92, have been duly
provided for by Supplementary Appropriation Ordinance,
(No 20 of 1899), with the exception of a net excess of
$6,329 19 on the Head Military Expenditure, due to the fact
that the contribution to the Imperial Government in aid of
Military Expenditure is based on the Revenue of the Colony
which exceeded the Estimate,
