Sir,
I am directed by the Secretary of State for
War to acquaint you, for the information of Mr Secretary
Chamberlain, that the General Officer Commanding the
Troops at Hong Kong, in forwarding an application for an
increase of Army Allowances at that Station, bases his
recommendation partly on the ground of an increase of
pay recently authorised to members of the Colonial
Service in Hong Kong under authority of the Secretary of
State for the Colonies' despatch No. 280 of the 8th
December, 1999.
Lord Lansdowne would therefore be glad to know
if this statement is correct, and if so, whether he could
be informed as to the data on which this increase of Pay
was granted.
de Under Secretary of State,
I have the honour to be,
Colonial Office.
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
Kank
