Mount Cochrane to be cut down by the Colonial

Public Works Department, to the level of Station Street

on the East, and MacDonnell Road on the West, or to such

higher level as may be decided on by the Under Secretary

of State for War; the proceeds of this excavation to be

the property of the Colony.

2.

The Under Secretary of State for War to

relinquish to the Colonial Government the area tinted blue

and to receive in exchange the area tinted red, on

attached tracing.

3. The piece of ground between extension of

Battery Street and MacDonnell Road to be reserved as an

open space.

The advantages to the Colonial Goverment of

this arrangement are as follows:-

The improvement of the thoroughfare between Tut'

Tsin Tsa with Taumati and the rapidly growing towns

beyond.

2. The provision close at hand of material for

the reclamation of the foreshore to N.W. of Mount

Cochrane.
