With reference to your letter of the 28th
ultimo relative to the importation of arms from Macao
into China I am directed by the Marquess of Salisbury
to state that he was informed by the Portuguese
Minister on the 7th instant that orders had been sent
by his Government to Macao to prohibit the export of
all arms etc., to Southern China.
