Referring to my Note to Your Lordship, dated
May 4th last, in relation to the probable shipment of
arms from Hong Kong for the Philippine insurgents, and to Your Lordship's reply thereto of the 18th ultimo, giving assurance that every precaution would be taken by Her Majesty's Authorities to prevent the exportation of arms from Hong Kong to the Philippine Islands; I have the honour to express to Your Lord- ship the appreciation and gratification of my Govern- ment at the prompt action of Her Majesty's Officials,
under the circumstances.
