Sir,
I am directed to inform you that a copy of Mr. Lucas's
letter of the 22nd Instant, No. 19,076, will be forwarded to
the Government of India; and that that Government will be
asked to report at a later date, when the pressure on their
Mints is relieved, as to the possibility of their undertaking
to supply subsidiary coin for Hong Kong and the Straits
Settlements.
