Sir,

In reply to your letter No.38606 of the 7th

instant I have the honour to state that we propose to carry

out the directions contained in it by substituting in passage agrements, for the words "or relinquish his appoint- ment except on promotion", the words "or shall leave the service of the Government of the Colony". The money would then be recoverable on retirement within three years what- ever appointment the officer was holding at the time.

I would point out however that the existing form of agreement is scheduled to Colonial Regulation No.153, and it would seem proper, if any variation in its terms is made, to notify the alteration to all Colonies.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your Obedient Servant,

litt mere.
