I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

your despatch of the 3rd instant referring to a report from Captain Webster that H. M. S. "Robin" under his command

was stoned while passing Laklao on the 27th ultimo, and

requesting to be informed what punishment has been

inflicted for this gross outrage on the British flag.

In reply I beg to state that this matter is in

the hands of Mr Little, H.M.Acting Consul at Sumshul who

I am informed accompanied Captain Kebster in H. M. S.

"Robin" to Laklao.

To save time I have forwarded a copy of your

despatch under acknowledgment to Mr Little, to whom I would beg to refer you for information as to the progress

of the case.
