Sir,
I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of
the Admiralty to transmit herewith, for the information
of the Secretary of State, copy of a letter from the
Officer Commanding H.M.S."Tweed", dated the 17th April
last, relative to the condition of affairs on the West
River, together with a copy of the Commander-in-Chief's
remarks.
Extracts from a further letter on this subject
dated the 1st May from Lieutenant & Commander Roper,
with Sir Edward Seymour's observations, are also
attached.
A similar letter has been addressed to the
Foreign Office.
