you approved of the appointment of a Second Assistant

Superintendent of Poline in addition to the appointment `of

: Mr Fallifax as First Assistant Superintendent of Police

and Police Magistrate for the New Territory. No cadet in

this government was available for the posts and, on

€œmmunicating with: the government of the Straits Settle-

ments and the Federated Malay States, I was informed on

the 80th instant that there also no passed cadet with the

' requisite knowledge of Cartoneme was available. I have,

therefore, appointed Mr Wodehouse, who is in every way

qualified, to be Second Assistant Superintendent of Police.
